Frequently Asked Questions

Capri marquee questions and answers

1 Can these marquees be erected on concrete?
Unfortunately these marquees cannot be set up on hard surfaces.

2 How long is the hire period?
The hire charge is for a 24hour period we usually erect the marquees 1 to 2 days before the event depending on the time of year and take them down the day after the event.

3 Are the side walls included and do we have to fit them?
Side walls are included in the hire amount they can of course be removed by the hirer if desired, they will not take long to replace if you change your mind.

4 Can we decorate the marquees ourselves?
Yes you can decorate the marquees however we do insist that you use string instead of sticky tape and that it is all removed before the collection time.

5 How do we secure a booking and make payment?
We take a 25% non refundable deposit to secure a booking then we require the balance to be paid no later than 7 days before the delivery date.

6 Should I mow the grass before you arrive?
It is advisable that you mow the grass and clean up the clippings a week before we are due to set up. This will go some way to ensure there are no lumps in the carpet and also reduce the mess that people will walk into your marquee.

7 Access to the site is restricted is this a problem?
It isn’t usually a problem as our marquees are very portable, however if the distance between the drop off and erection sites are more than 100 metres away we may charge a small extra fee.

8 Do I need carpeting?
It is entirely up to you as it depends on the occasion. For instance high heels and grass don’t generally mix.

9 What if the weather is very bad?
The weather is out of our control but we do try and work around it as best as we can. Our marquees are fully waterproof, the carpeting may get damp though but on well drained ground this will dry out quickly. However in severe wind no marquee manufacturer or hirer will recommend erecting a marquee.

10 Why don’t you offer marquee lining?
Due to their modern design they don’t need a lining, we feel that by hiring our up lighters you will achieve a much better look come dusk.

11 Are the marquees insured while on site or do we have to insure them?
Yes the insurance is covered as part of the hire charge. However if damage occurs while on hire the hirer is liable to the insurance policy excess of £500.

Clear span marquee questions and answers

1 How high are your marquees?
The walls are 2.4m high and the ridge height is 4m

2 Are the marquees waterproof?
Yes they are also suitable for winter hire as they are built to withstand wind speeds of up to 60 miles an hour. We would suggest hiring a heater if you are holding a winter event.

3 Can we decorate the marquee ourselves?
Yes of course you can however we do ask that nothing is stapled or sticky taped to the marquee and that all decorations are fully removed prior to collection.

4 What size marquee is suitable?
Please see our price page. This will tell you how many people you are able to fit into each section. Please note that it doesn't take into account dance floor area catering section, band space, bar area or any other extras you wish to fit into the marquee.

5 Can we connect a marquee to a building?
Marquees can be used as an extension to a building but cannot be completely joined to one. We will always try and position a marquee as close to the building as the situation will allow.

6 Can the marquees be erected on uneven ground?
Marquees can be erected on slightly uneven ground, it is best however that they are erected on even ground. However it is important to remember that the ground inside the marquee will also be uneven.

7 Can you open up the marquee in warm weather?
Yes the majority of the sides will slide back.

8 Will I need a generator or toilets?
If you have no power source on site then it is advisable to hire a generator. Equally if you have a large number of guests and only two toilets then it is advisable to hire a toilet unit. We can advise you on where to hire these from.

9 Are you able to make a site visit?
We are able to make a site visit, however it does depend on what the job is, distance from our Bristol base and time of year. I.e. May to September are the busiest months of the year so site visits can't be guaranteed.

10 Will the marquee damage my lawn?
If you cover grass for a number of days it will always turn yellow. The real damage, if any, will come from people walking up and down on the matting especially if it's a party with a large number of people.

11 What about pipe work or cables underground will the marquee damage them?
Firstly the hire charges are based on there being no pipe work under the marquee site. If pipe work does exist a detailed plan needs to be supplied in order that we don't disturb any of them. Alternatively arrangements will have to be made which will affect the hire charge. This needs to be finalised by the client before booking.
